2018 Playoff Waivers

Congratulations on making the playoffs. If you need some help solidifying your roster for the stretch run, you’ve come to the right place. The most important thing to remember is to be smart – be prepared to substitute guys in who never played for you all season and roll the dice with them in the playoffs.

Trending Up

Chris Godwin, TB WR

DeSean Jackson’s injury led to Godwin hauling in 5 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown last week. Godwin has been a fringe contributor all season but if Jackson misses this week’s game against the Saints, Godwin can be a high-upside WR2 in what is probably going to amount to a shootout.

Jalen Richard, Oak RB

Richard finally broke out last week with 6 carries for 95 yards. He’ll continue to see work in the passing game and will be a decent FLEX option in PPR leagues for the fantasy playoffs. If you desperately need some depth at RB, you can do a lot worse.

Curtis Samuel, Car WR

We mentioned Devin Funchess here before, but he’s been on a downward trend throughout the second half of this season. With Samuel totaling 13 receptions for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns in the past three weeks, it is safe to say that we are looking at a solid FLEX candidate for the rest of the year, especially with Greg Olsen going down.

Ian Thomas, Car TE

Greg Olsen is out for the year and that means Thomas should get a minimum of 6 targets a game. He’ll be a fringe TE1 right away after stepping up for 5 catches and 46 yards last week. If you are in a 12-team league, Thomas is probably a decent plug and play this week.

Dante Pettis, SF WR

Pettis has a minimum of 4 catches in three straight games, culminating in a 5 reception, 129 yard performance with 2 touchdowns to boot. It’s hard to trust that Pettis will be this consistent the rest of the way, but he needs to be owned in case he puts up another week or two of this level of production.

Trending Down

Cam Newton, Car QB

Just a super precautionary entry here, as Newton is projected to be a top 5 QB play this week against the Browns. However, with Carolina basically out of the playoff race and Newton hampered by an ailing shoulder that led to him throwing 4 interceptions last week, it wouldn’t be the worst idea for Newton owners to add a QB from waivers in the unlikely scenario that he gets shut down for the rest of the season.

Kareem Hunt, FA RB

Obviously he’s a drop. Including in Dynasty Leagues. Even in your Madden Ultimate Team.
